Chipotle reported its strongest same-store sales growth since 2024, with a 2.2% increase in Q2. This growth was driven by a 1% increase in transactions and a 1.2% increase in average check. The company’s honey chicken launch in April and its World Cup BOGO promotion contributed to this momentum.
Same-Store Sales Growth
The fast-casual Mexican chain raised its full-year same-store sales guidance to the low-single-digit range, from flat in April. This increase is a positive sign for the company, which has been working to enhance its marketing and rewards programs.
Taco Bell, on the other hand, reported a 7% same-store sales increase, driving Yum Brands’ global same-store sales up 3% in the quarter. KFC saw a 2% increase, while Pizza Hut was down 1%. System sales grew 5% for the period, with a record mix of digital sales at 60%.
Yum Brands’ Performance
Yum also reported a 5% increase in unit count, with the company expecting its Pizza Hut sale to LongRange Capital and Yum China to close in August. This sale is part of Yum’s efforts to focus on its core brands and improve its financial performance.
