A Class I meat recall covering nearly 1.6 million pounds of ready-to-eat products has been announced by Kayem Foods Inc., a family-owned business in Chelsea, Massachusetts. Products affected were made between March and October 7, including hot dogs, bacon, sausage, and deli meats under multiple brands. Shipments went across the U.S. and to Hong Kong, with establishment numbers EST. M/P 7839, EST. P 20935A, or EST. M 9520 visible on USDA inspection stamps.

A Class I recall carries the highest risk level, meaning there is a significant chance of serious illness or death if the products are consumed. Although no confirmed cases have been reported, the USDA advises consumers to discard or return the items. This incident comes as food and beverage recalls reached their highest point in nine years in 2025, with 571 FDA recalls—a 15.4% increase compared to the previous year, according to the Sedgwick’s 2026 State of the Nation U.S. Product Safety and Recall Index.
