A nightclub worker died when he crashed his car into a bridge while crossing the drink-driving mark on his way home from work, an inquest heard.

‘Bubbly’ 31 year old Kelsey Stuttard, from Cheadle, Greater Manchester, more than doubled the drink limit when she crashed into a bridge at 68 mph in her white Audi A3 at A523 Macclesfield Road, near Rudyard in Staffordshire, at 0310 on the date May 7, 2022.

His family said they were shocked he had exceeded the alcohol limit and said he was known to friends as ‘grandmother’s driver’.

During an inquest at Stoke City Hall, a relative said: ‘He would not have been driving at that speed on the motorway.

‘He would be made fun of by his friends who would often call him ‘grandmother’s driver’.

“As for his drink, I know that he didn’t drive knowingly knowing he was drunk.”

“He wouldn’t drive, he used to plan ahead if he knew he was going to be drinking, whether staying at a BnB or at a friend’s house.”

‘He’ll know what he’s drinking. When he drinks he plans.’

Kelsey had only been working at the 3D nightclub for nine months when she was killed.

He was pronounced dead at the scene when emergency services arrived.

An autopsy found him dead from multiple injuries.

North Staffordshire county coroner Emma Serrano said alcohol and lack of sleep most likely contributed to the crash.

His family say he was a caring person who will be missed.

They told the inquest: ‘He will care about everyone.

‘He has helped underprivileged people in Tanzania.

‘One night where he called Tesco on his way home and saw a homeless person.

‘He came in and bought them pillows and blankets.

“He’s that kind of person.”

They added: ‘He is working seven days a week to save up for his first home. He is loved by all his friends.

“He will be missed.”
