A man dies after getting into a fight with a bouncer at a pub.

Police were called to the Kealba Hotel in Melbourne’s St Albans at around 2.50am after the 24-year-old from Mill Park got into an altercation with the security guard at the venue.

Officers were trying desperately to revive the man who had become ‘unresponsive’.

“Police arrived and started CPR but the man died at the scene,” Victoria police said.

Homicide Squad detectives are now investigating and will await post-mortem results to determine cause of death.

Among the questions is whether the man’s death may have been caused by a medical episode.

It is not yet known what caused the early morning fight.

A witness told 9News the man had been denied entry to the bar last night and had been ‘behaving erratically and banging on doors’.

Detective closed the Sunshine Ave venue on Sunday as forensic specialists combed the scene for evidence.

A State Emergency Services Tent was set up at the scene to protect the man’s body.
